July just flew by and I’m ready to finalize my new favorites.
What’s new?
This month, I’ve explored some places that have been on my list for a while, some that just opened, and some were random finds. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a new spot opens up, waiting to be discovered! That’s the beauty of New York City.
Chic furniture store turned cafe, located in the heart of Soho – this spot feels like a little oasis in the bustling city. With two floors of stunning decor, you’re allowed to have your coffee anywhere in the store, well, maybe except for the fancy bedrooms. I had hibiscus iced tea and a marvelous sweet treat called “ A millionaire bar” - the name speaks for itself - a dark chocolate caramel biscuit with raspberry flakes. This place screams aesthetic!
I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a while now. Raf’s atmosphere feels like a cool Italian movie - stylish interior and incredible baked goods!
I had a Prosciutto & Taleggio Croissant and a Cappuccino. The croissant was everything it’s supposed to be – crispy sound, flakes flying all over my face – so fine. I can’t wait to visit again and try other pastries, and also their dinner menu.
If you want to have Spanish feels this summer, then you should visit Rosso – the cutest tiny cafe and wine & tapas spot at night, with bright red tables outdoors. What’s funny is it’s located in front of my favorite pilates studio in the East Village, so it looks like I’m gonna have a nice balance this summer – first work, then play ;) The iced cappuccino was beautiful, and so was the tortilla – it tasted authentic and came in a very generous portion!
Now, let’s slowly move down to Brooklyn, Dumbo. I found this place by chance – it’s not just a regular cafe but a creative space where they also sell unique books and glassware. They don’t do drinks to go – it’s their policy; you have to sit down and enjoy your moment. They serve fantastic drip coffee, and they also have a selection of natural wine.
Right next door, there’s a great home goods store called VISO Project and Natural Selection. They have very nice stuff, and I believe they have a sale right now. The croissant lamp stole my heart – I’m thinking of coming back to rescue it for my home!
And last but not least, my favorite thing: bread in the morning, wine at night – I love the playfulness of the name of this place. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while, and it exceeded my expectations. Beautiful pastries – I tried the Gruyère Danish with poppy seeds. It is located on a lovely street in Greenpoint, and I was sitting outside, reading my book – the perfect quiet morning. If you visit on a Sunday, make your way to McGolrick Farmers Market afterward for a perfect Sunday-Funday ;)
That is it for our today’s Sundays. Hope you find something useful for yourself here.
After all, life is too short for bad coffee and uninspiring places.
Get out there, enjoy life, and try something new.
Stay curious and caffeinated! Happy Sunday Funday!
